I.P.L. is sort of like a laser. It stands for Intense Pulsed Light. It is a non-invasive treatment for skin rejuvenation for the visible signs of aging, photo-damage, freckles, solar lentigines (big flat freckles), telangiectasias (broken capillaries), poikiloderma (perfume rash), angiomas (small red spots), hemangiomas and rosacea. 

Anywhere on the body can be treated from the face to the décolletage, back and even the hands.

Q. How many treatments are required?
A.  Most conditions require three to six treatments depending upon the patient's level of sun damage, but even one or two treatments will show a marked difference.

Q.  How often are treatments required?
A.  Treatments are preformed at approximately 4 weeks intervals. Capillaries can require as little as 1 treatment. 

Healing - there is always the slight possibility of developing a crust or blister.  This is superficial, and rarely results in any scarring and is treated like sunburn or any other blister.

Pigment changes - the treated area will probably heal without any pigment changes however there is always the slight chance that hyperpigmentation (darker) or hypopigmentation (lighter) areas may occur.
